“Whatever material I use, it's the variety of marks I can make that interests me. Drawings and paintings can be very loose and layered, working on paper allows me to work freely creating layers and spaciousness.”

With clay, the work is grounding, meditative, alchemical. I am sculpting with clay coils, sculptures with a palette of raw clays, chalky whites, cobalt, ochre, black and rust, balancing calmness with a sense of movement.

In my imagination I come back to things I’ve noticed; shadows, shapes of leaves, patches of wilderness in the city - these things move me not to recreate them exactly but to work from a feeling.”
